I just wanted to give you all an update on my baby girl Mia (my dog). She is still hanging in there. Greg took her to the vet last Saturday and they actually wanted to put her down right then and there. She has heart failure, only 1/2 a valve out of 2 are working, and that is why she is not able to keep food down. She is dropping weight, going from 11 pounds to just under 7. Our vet said she will eventually starve and her body will give up. He said she wouldn't last the week and will suffer and that is why he wanted to do it then, before she got to the point of suffering. Is she giving up? Heck no! She has always been a strong little girl. A Lab in a Chihuahua body we always say. Feisty, strong, spunky. That's our Mia! I don't want to be selfish, but I really don't think she is suffering yet. I think an owner knows when to let them go. It is just not her time yet! Please keep her in your thoughts that she goes peacefully at home. My poor little friend.

Oh Lori -- I'm so sorry to hear about Mia. I remember when you got her. What a sweet, feisty girl she is! Love her personality!! My heart is with you, friend! It's so hard to say goodbye to our pets, and I'm glad you have this time with her!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry. I think Miss Mia knows how much she is loved. Pamper that sweet girl as much as you can with the time left. (((HUGS)))

Hugs to you! This is the worst part of pet ownership, watching our babies get old.
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm sorry--it's never easy to say goodbye to our fur babies. I hope you're able to make the most of the time you have left together!
